STRATEGIC FOCUS GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND STRATEGIC PRIORITIES FOR 2026
The University of Florida College of Medicine’s overarching purpose: to advance the college’s identity as a dual-campus academic health center that delivers excellence through alignment, collaboration and innovation.
THE PROCESS
In spring 2025, leaders from Gainesville and Jacksonville initiated a strategic planning process that drew input from all the department chairs and other stakeholders. In August 2025, nearly 90 college leaders from Gainesville, Jacksonville and the UF Health system gathered in person for the first time in college history to discuss the future of the College of Medicine. The group spent a full day discussing high-priority goals in the areas of education, research and patient care for the next 12-18 months.
As a result of these conversations, the College of Medicine has identified its overarching purpose: to advance the college’s identity as a dual-campus academic health center that delivers excellence through alignment, collaboration and innovation. Additionally, we have identified five guiding principles that will help us achieve this aspirational vision and allow us to continue fostering a preeminent environment in education, clinical care, research and talent development among our shared communities in Gainesville and Jacksonville.
