Patient Care at the University of Florida

Providing superior patient care with a humanistic approach is the driving force behind each one of our missions at the UF College of Medicine.

Physicians in surgery

Through UF Health Shands and a network of UF Physicians practices, College of Medicine physicians provide leading-edge care to residents of Florida and to patients around the world who travel to Gainesville and Jacksonville for specialized care.

The UF academic health center, with campuses in Gainesville and Jacksonville, is home to a world-class academic health system that has served Florida for more than 50 years. Our partner in providing innovative, high-quality health care for a half century is UF Health Shands, which offers every level of health services, from prevention and primary care to the most sophisticated specialty services. It comprises two teaching hospitals (both Level One Trauma Centers), a children’s hospital and a cancer hospital.

In addition, the UF College of Medicine partners with the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center, which is located across the street from UF Health Shands Hospital and serves military veterans from throughout north central Florida and south Georgia. The college also has affiliations with several community health care sites and additional hospitals in Florida.
